Open plan hallway, kitchen and living completed in Stotfold a couple of weeks back. Was a tricky project based on the elderly gentleman needing access to all areas and having a rescue dog that wasn’t great with noise!! All said and done tho it came out as well as I’d promised the client!! All walls, ceilings and woodwork machined back with 120 sanding discs on my @mirka deros, @festool planex2 and dts, rts 400’s. Without these machines I wouldn’t be able to work in areas still accessible by clients as the dust reduction is immeasurable. 14 years ago before I got into dustless sanding this job would of proved near impossible. Now this is an entrance!!! A grade 2 listed house I had the pleasure (nearly lost my mind) of working on! This post is for the entrance porch alone as it was a job in itself!! The rest of this outside will gain its own post. What a mess this was! All machined back to reveal it’s lack of protection over the years. All repairs made with the @repair_care_international_uk dry flex 16 and all minor repairs with @toupretuk wood repair fillers. Minor details with the @repair_care_international_uk super finish. All white surfaces you see where given 2 coats of @bedecproducts aqua primer and then 2 coats of @johnstonespaint storm shield undercoat with a dash of @owatroluk to keep the paint going. This was followed by the @johnstonespaint brilliant white gloss top coat with @owatroluk added for flow. Gates prepared and treated then given two coats of @johnstonespaint metal smooth gloss finish. Front door (and what a huge front door it was!) was machined back and filled to make ready for 3 @johnstonespaint storm shield undercoat colour matched to the black gloss top coat finish. This was followed by a double gloss finish all helped along with @owatroluk to keep the wet edges on the surfaces. 🔥HAND PAINTED KITCHEN🔥 Certainly haven’t enjoyed a job as much as this one for a while!! A lot of love and commitment went into this kitchen refurb. There were 39 doors, draws and units in total so wasn’t for the faint hearted. Along with decoration to all walls, ceilings and woodwork in this huge kitchen, diner and living space we got the joy of being able to reinvent! Our client thought long and hard about which colour pallets to combine here. She thankfully settled on a combination of @farrowandball wevet for the walls and cornforth white for the main cabinets along with the classic down pipe for the island. All were spot on in our opinion and gave the kitchen area a new dimension to its already classic look. Along with the kitchen cabinet repaint we also had a collection of repairs such as patching in where the speakers once were and repairing the splits in the angle beads around the orangery and a huge split from original house to extension. All in all one of the toughest and most time consuming jobs we have had in a while but like all things in life the harder it is the more rewarding it is at the end!! All cabinets and carcasses prepped with 180g up to wet and drying on our @festool machines between coats to then be given the hand painted finish. An overly deceptive large living room that needed bringing up to date. With this 46 sq metre ceiling and natural light coming in from both sides we had to use as much of an anti reflex paint as possible. The toss up between an old favourite in the AR2 anti reflex and a new product bouncing around the market at the moment was a decision we had to take. Thanks to @liamgentdecorating for pointing us in the direction of @topdecbrush.co.uk and there @teknosgbi ceiling paints!!! Fantastic to work with and a decent price. Both things we were happy with!! Ceiling was absolutely flawless after being machined back with the @festool planex2 (another reason why I made the plunge for this bit of kit!) and then given 2 coats of the @teknosgbi ceiling paint!! Wow… All walls machined back with our @mirkauk deros sanders and @festool dts and rts machines so no edge or imperfection was left unturned. A nice little revamp for a client of ours recently. When I say the machines went to work on these walls and ceilings I’m not even close to joking!!! Roller marks, brush marks and uneven flow of the paints constituted in what we found. But what we left thanks to the innovation I stepped into 14 years ago of machine sanding with dustless extraction we were able to rip it all right back for polished and true walls. Application of the paints as all my decorators on here know is vital and when done properly will give a smooth and even finish. Bedroom transformed into a new office space for the clients. As with the hallway on this job a painstaking effort was made to remove the wallpaper without damaging to much of the dry lined walls underneath. It went much better due to there not being another layer of lining paper underneath like the hallway!! Walls were machined back with our @festool sanders and @mirkauk sanders.
